NATURE DISCOVERY PROGRAMS
Saturdays at 10:00 AM, at the White Mountain Nature Center

The Nature Center, in cooperation with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Town of Pintetop-Lakeside and other partners offers hands-on, outdoor presentations, hikes and workshops. Programs provide family-oriented fun with a discovery focus on increasing awareness, understanding and responsible action towards nature, and most are free of charge.

Annual Nature Center Work Day, Building Remodeling, and Tent Raising

Come help raise the "big top" and continue the remodeling of our new building.

9th Annual White Mountain Spring Carnival

Fun for the entire family with rides, games and food! Located at the Town's Mountain Meadow Recreation Complex off Woodland Road. Proceeds benefit the Nature Center.

June 6 (7:30 AM)

Walk for the Woods National Trails Day

Fun hikes and bike ride to benefit the Nature Center and Woodland Lake Park. Food, music and prizes. Fun for the entire family while supporting area open spaces!

June 20

Discovering Arizona Bees

Discover Arizona's many kinds of bees, and learn about the problems of honey bees, bumble bees and Africanized bees. Learn how to build a "bee condo" for your yard.

July 4

Reptiles - Then and Now

Learn about the Dinosaur Musem's newly discovered dinosaur species, followed by the White Mountain Reptile and Amphibian Rescue's live reptiles and amphibians.

July 18

Aquatic Adventure

Discover Arizona's diverse fish species, including native Apache trout displayed in the exhibit space aquariem, followed by the annual search for water critters at Big Springs.

August 1

Elk, Deer, Antelope and Turkey, Oh My!

Rocky Mtn. Elk Foundation and AZ Game & Fish will present information on elk and other game animals, hunting and the benefit of forest treatment, including fire, on their habitat.

August 15

Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary & Mexican Wolf Recovery Workshop

Get up close and personal with a live wolf and learn about wolf behavior and habits, along with presentations by local wolf recovery experts on the Mexican wolf recovery effort.

September 5

10th Annual Woodland Wildlife Festival

Interactive booths and displays with lots of live wildlife, demonstrations, and exhibits. The Wildlife World Zoo will make presentations at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM (nominal charge for the programs; festival FREE!)

September 12

10th Annual Nature Center Benefit Dinner at Hon-Dah Convention Center

This event supports our annual operating expenses and diverse programs. It's a combination of great fun, great entertainment, and great food, all for a great cause. Fat Chance will provide musical entertainment and auctioneer Hugh Winderweedle will keep things lively as great merchandise is auctioned and raffled off throughout the evening.
